Lake Nakuru
-October 2013-
In October 2013, we took a nice day trip to Lake Nakuru - about 3 hours drive from Nairobi. The water level of the lake has risen significantly in the last couple of years, although no one is quite sure why. The likely cause is deforestation in the surrounding areas. The lake used to be really well known for having thousands of flamingos, but many have left since the water level rose. Still a very beautiful place with a little safari too!
